The Teather Collection
How does it feel when you’re in a situation of pure elation? To me it feels like you’re floating off the ground, your mind feels connected to everything and everyone around you, and there is an energy that is feels like there is power in the connection to others on this planet. I’ve felt this in many forms, but I feel that this is comes to me in the presence of music.
In a small studio session, listening to the harp on headphones while out in the grass or at a sweaty club that is pumping 150BPMs. A few years ago, I started to feel restless in New York, wanting to get some visual stimulation from the rest of the world. I started to go to Berlin quite often. That led to traveling to many places in Europe, and this was a new experience. I’d only spent travel time in Asia, and the mysteries and majesties of those worlds were very different from these. I found more of an industrial edge here. Also more people trying to escape their reality of the grind into something more visceral, more ethereal.
From my exploration there, I was inspired by the world of adornment I saw in dark corners of Berlin, artistic enclaves in Brussels and the busy streets of london. The fashion was interesting, but also more relaxed.
I made this collection to remind myself that though we are tethered to our lives, jobs, and the ground, we can also levitate and connect with the collective around us. The collection is called teather, but i’s also about untethering. May these pieces help you remember that the beauty of life lies in both.
