Standing on the beach, I could see the other island in the distance. Uninhabited by man and a testament to the power of the earth.

There was something about the way the sun held itself high in the sky there. I felt there was an enlightenment, a special energy where the lips of the water met the land. It all came together to send a burst of sun-drenched air right through my soul.

I came home to find sand in the bottom of my beach bag, and I was transported back there, and the pearls I brought back held this tiny bit of the islands in the heart of each one.

Each piece in this collection is cast in sterling silver and made by hand in New York. The forms came from what I kept noticing in Hawaiʻi — organic edges, the give of water against stone, shapes that feel found rather than designed.

The metal is the outline of the memory.
